Coaching days are built around small group discussion, instruction, and support (typically 3-6 people at a time). These sessions are focused on specific needs within that particular group whether it be grade level groups, school support groups, or special areas groups. Training days are usually larger group instruction (typically whole or half staff training sessions). Trainings are designed to provide instruction to a larger mass of the school community. These days are aimed to provide processes and strategies that are of school-wide need.
Each coaching day is designed around your needs. Many times, a coaching day will be broken into 4-5 sessions (approximately 1.5 hours long). Each of these sessions are specific groups (e.g., grade level groups, special area group, special needs group, school support staff group) where focus on instruction is given toward their needs in climate, community, curriculum, or a combination of the three.
Anyone within your school community can take part in a coaching or training day, whether it be teachers, administrators, para-professionals, office staff, custodians, bus drivers, we have you covered! We will work with you in designing the day of instruction based upon your needs.
Climate. Community. Curriculum. These are the three areas of instruction that we believe are most important in creating a healthy and effective school. Climate is all about the physical attributes of your school (and classroom) in knowing how to create a learning environment that is absent of threat and conducive for learning. Community is all about relationships within the school community, the language we use in the school, how we get along each other, and the processes you have in place for behavioral management. Curriculum is everything from your curriculum map to how to develop an engaging lesson to delivering your lesson that will captivate and hook your students in learning. Each of these categories are filled with best practice strategies supported through research in brain science and learning cognition for student growth and success.
